The M.A. emphasis in Bioanthropology is designed to provide rigorous training in biological anthropology with a strong emphasis on the biological sciences.  Students are expected to demonstrate proficiency in all three subfields of anthropology offered at SFSU (archaeology, biological, and cultural) but the primary emphasis  is on the biological sciences.  The M.A. degree provides preparation for application to a Ph.D. program in Anthropology. The M.A. degree in Anthropology may also be appropriate preparation for further study in such fields as law, medicine, or cultural resource management. Students who have completed their education at the M.A. level have found employment in cultural resources management (archaeology), museums, education, and related public service fields.
